python-inotifyx software package provides simple Python binding to the Linux inotify, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install python-inotifyx
python-inotifyx is installed in your system.
Make ensure the python-inotifyx package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep python-inotifyx *
You will get with python-inotifyx package name, version, architecture and description in a table
